Via de social media heb je hier en daar al wat voorbij kunnen zien komen: sinds donderdagochtend vertoef ik in het prachtige Edinburgh! Gedurende de nacht slaap ik in een superdeluxe challet wat eigenlijk dient als vakantiehuis, maar waar in werkelijkheid 5 gezellige studenten verblijven. Of nou ja, tijdelijk zijn dat er dus 6, inclusief Runninglau. Het vakantiehuis wordt 6 maanden lang verhuurt zolang zij zich aan de regels van de landlord houden. Ik voel me dan ook helemaal thuis door de enorme keuken, een stortdouche waar je u tegen zegt en bedden die eruit zien alsof the queen herself erin heeft mogen slapen. Ja, ik mag tot zover niet klagen.
De eerste dag ben ik door mijn vriendin meteen heel de stad doorgeleid waar zij mij alle hotspots van Edinburgh liet zien. Tussendoor maakten we even een stop voor een taartje en een kopje koffie waarna we in de avond uitgebreid sushi gingen eten om vervolgens in een pub te eindigen met wat van haar ‘Scottisch’ friends. Wat een heerlijk volk zeg. En wat kunnen die schotten drinken! Ook ik zit hier aan een grote mok bier, simpelweg omdat de meeste pubs voornamelijk bier (dan weliswaar alle soorten) aanbieden en ze hun eigen wijn -door de kwaliteit- zelfs een beetje afraden. Tot nu toe zijn alle dagen dat ik hier ben ook helemaal volgepland zodat ik zeker weet dat ik alle leukste hoekjes en gaatjes van deze stad kan ontdekken. Wel even wennen aan de kou hoor, het is behoorlijk fris! Terwijl ik mijzelf nog even omdraai na een iets te late pub-nacht deel ik hier alvast een voorproefje van de prachtige omgeving en gebouwen uit Edinburgh. Er volgen natuurlijk nog meer artikels met de exacte ‘Hot spots’ & ‘Must visits’. Cheers mate!
